Deputy Director (Finance)

As a member of the senior management team, KHI invites applications from accomplished finance professionals for the position of Deputy Director (Finance) to provide strategic leadership for the Institute’s financial management, administration, and compliance functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Institute’s financial management, including financial planning, budgeting, treasury, accounting, payroll, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate accounting records, timely financial transactions, bank reconciliations, and effective financial controls.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses in compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Manage organizational budgeting, financial forecasting, budget monitoring, and variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • Lead the financial management of donor-funded programmes and grants, including proposal budgeting, expenditure monitoring, donor financial reporting, and compliance with grant agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and donor requirements, including VAT, income tax, NGOAB, RJSC, Bangladesh Bank, labour laws, and other applicable regulations.
  • Strengthen financial governance through robust internal controls, risk management, financial policies, and coordinated internal and external audits.
  • Oversee procurement, contract administration, asset management, and inventory control in accordance with organizational and donor policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the Finance and Administration team, fostering high performance, accountability, and continuous professional development.
  • Support senior management by providing strategic financial advice, business insights, and recommendations to enhance organizational sustainability and growth.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a reputed university; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CMA, or CPA) is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management is required, including at least two (2) years in a senior leadership role.
  • Prior experience in NGO and managing donor-funded programme finances, and working knowledge of NGOAB, RJSC, Bangladesh Bank, VAT/income tax regulations and other applicable statutory requirements, is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated leadership, team-management and strategic advisory capabilities.

Programme Associate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, or a closely related discipline, with a CGPA of 3.50 or above.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in both English and Bangla.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS, or R).
